In RL Greece is a
country in South Eastern Europe consisting of 2 mainland peninsulas and
thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. It's often called
the birthplace of Western civilization, and Athens, its capital, retains
ancient landmarks including the 5th-century-B.C.E. Acropolis citadel and
Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black sands of
Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.
And in SL we have the Greek Islands, run by Edemon and Frederikia Gausman. Sweethearts Jazz Club is
proud to feature The Greek Islands as one of our loyal advertisers.
Edemon is Greek and lives in Greece. He graduated from an
American College in Greece and he runs his own computer related business. A
good friend of his recommended that he join SL as a way of expressing his
creativity with building in particular.
He started the Greek Islands with one region at the end of
2013. His rationale for starting the estate was, and still is, to present Greece
in SL as Edemon said “To show the spirit of our white and blue.” The estate
currently consists of 13 regions, Greece, Santorini Island, Myconos, Zakynthos,
Ios Island, Parthenon, Dionysus Symposium, Yakynthos, Dilos, Super Paradise,
Euboea, Frederika, Strofades, all named for RL Greek Islands or locations,
apart from Frederika which is named for his partner.
Edemon is a true romantic and said he finds inspiration for
his creations from his muse and partner Frederika. However, the need to present
the real face and the eternal beauty of his RL country, is also a constant
motivation for him.

The first is
dedicated to traditional and contemporary Greek music while the second has
international DJ sets every day. There are also live performances every Friday
night (CET) either at Golden Sunset Lounge Bar or at Parthenon or at Castle
Ridgetale.
Edemon reiterated that his motives to create the Greek
Islands were other than that of making a profit. He said “I strongly believe that in order to
achieve profitable levels in SL business, you either have to offer your brain
capital (building, scripting etc.) or own many, many regions, over 100, in the
rentals business. The rental prices are just providing me a break-even-point
revenue.”
He has plans to further develop The Greek Islands by establishing
a strong support team, who will be able to immediately offer any kind of
assistance that is required. Also to have a representation of some of Greece’s
historical sites is on the cards.
It is worth your while to pay The Greek Islands a visit to
see the most realistic representation of the Parthenon in SL. Or you could make it your home in SL, the
people are warm and welcoming, the sands are warm, the turquoise seas are
inviting and the white and blue architecture is iconic of Santorini.
